BU & BXM Awards 2011: And The Winners Are

With the voting closed and all the votes counted, the BXM Awards 2011 gatecrashed the Christmas Cracker party with a prizes ceremony. The winners of each category got to pick a special prize out of Santa's sack.

The winners of the BU Awards 2011 were announced at a more sober ceremony, after the Parkway Disc Golf tournament. Each winner received a custom decorated mug.

So, far those who missed the prize ceremonies, here are the winners...

Vote Now - Voting for BU & BXM Awards Opens

Well, it's a little later than planned, but voting has final opened for the Belfast Ultimate and Benjamin Xerxes MacTillion Awards.

While the finishing touches are still being put on the nominations, they're all in and you can read about each nomination on the BU Awards 2011 Nominations page and the BXM Awards 2011 Nominations page.

The Awards Are Coming

Award

Sneaking up with stealth, and then BOOM, it's the Belfast Ultimate Awards 2011. Nominations are open.

The awards recognise and celebrate key achievements of individuals and groups through the year. This year also sees the passing of the GSH Awards and the introduction of the all new, and entirely the same, BXM Awards. These awards take a more jovial approach, as a way to recap all the memorable moments and contributions throughout the year, whether they were intentional or not.

Thee Lindsay-McCambridge Hat 2011

The TDs: Rob and Darragh

In it's third annual instalment, the Lindsay-McCambridge Hat is a textbook showcase of informal Ultimate. With a lot of the core BU players away in Bundoran for Irish Beach Training and others at EUC, attendance was low this year. This did not deter the enthusiastic TDs or the 14 or so players that came out for the day. With a relaxed start, nice and late after the billed starting time (90 minutes), Rob and Darragh drew names out of the hat for our two teams that would play six a side for the afternoon.

Not The Euros

Belfast Ultimate is proud to present "Not the Euros", 13th- 14th August 2011@ Shorts Recreational FC, our new training and social venue :D

This tournament is aimed at teams whose players aren’t attending EUC or The European Juniors (EUC players will be back in time for this but its whether they want to see and chase a piece of plastic around a grass pitch after a busy week..... By my dates the juniors will still be away :( .........but everyone is still very welcome to come and play).

Summer League 2011 - Media & Feedback Request

This blog is pretty link heavy. Get ready to open them all in new tabs...

If you haven't already seen it, a group of us made a short advert for the Summer League to get everyone's attention, and help build some hype for the competition. It seemed to go down pretty well. See what you think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvDBaR1oLlM

Stu Moore keeps a daily vlog on YouTube. He recorded the whole prize giving ceremony, which comes across nicely. You can view it here, and if you want to skip to the ceremony, it starts at 5:57: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uuoe-ACTfTk

Summer League: Looking Ahead To Gameweek 4

Just a quick one this time since I'm in a bit of a rush. As Summer League draws to a close, most positions if not all are still to be decided. If we examine the league table we can spot two pairs that are tied on points, and battling for silverware. CHASE and LDW will play each other for the final time to decide the league winner. They are drawn on points, and CHASE have the advantage in goal difference, so only a win will do for LDW tonight. In a similar situation on the league table are Wreckin Boyz and DUMP, both tied on points, but the Boyz are ahead on goal difference by 5.

Summer League Second Round Schedule Confirmed

We are in our final phase of the Belfast Ultimate Summer League now, and have split into two competitive divisions to play out the rest of the league. I know there's only one week left, but I thought it would be worth confirming the schedule with you guys. Final standings from the first round-robin were used, and were as follows:

Team A: LDW
Team B: CHASE
Team C: DUMP
Team D: Wreckin Boyz
Team E: Frisbeezer

These were used to fill in the rest of the schedule, which is now fully up to date and can be viewed at www.belfastultimatesummerleague.com/schedule

Fantasy Frisbee

This year's Fantasy Frisbee score prediction game was a great wee bit of fun. In all there were 19 participants, and involvement from all teams. At the last update, there was hot competition for the top spot with both Linter and Poody in joint first position, and more than a few just behind within reaching distance.
